Assertion-We still have a chance to save polar bears

This assertion journal is in response to New Scientists’ article “We still have a chance to save polar bears”. It was written the 30, 0ctober 2009. http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20427325.800-we-still-have-a-chance-to-save-polar-bears.html

The ice is melting! The ice is melting! Everyone has heard about global warming and the polar bears. Yes, the ice is melting and the Arctic habit and environment is declining, but the ice will persist for approximately 30 more years. People fail to recognize that there is time to conserve what is left and manage it wisely for the future.

Management of the ice shed internationally could provide a viable habit for the polar bears and other arctic species even once the ice completely melts. There is an arctic ice shed that transports floating ice from the Arctic to Alaska and Russia, environments not fit for polar bears. In the future, the little ice that is formed during the winter will just float down to the warmer climates. Conservation now at the international level can promote saving these areas. Each local country will attempt to establish their own plans; however, this region is interdependent between many nations. If each nation reacted independently only certain Arctic areas would be protected or the entire system would fail quicker. Management plans should extend beyond national borders to unite the international political and scientific communities to conserve an Arctic habit and species destined for death within the next forty years.

The end of the “ice age” is not as near as one may think. The ice will continue to be present until approximately at least 2040. That gives the world 30 years to revaluate management and conservation plans. With the right planning, the next generation will have an opportunity to experience an entirely different world from the urban suburbs most live in today.

Yes the ice might be melting and the planet a little warmer but i do not believe in "Global Warming." I do not get why we, humans, think that we must get involved with every little thing that happens on earth. we may be the smartest animals on the planet but i think there is a time when we just need to let nature takes it course. the polar bears habitat may be disappearing but no knows whether they would completely die if all the ice melted. I also do not think that we, humans, are responsible for the slight increase in temperature, i believe that earth has a natural rhythm that it follows and we are not making it any worse. though we may be putting a decent amount of CO2 into the air but not enough to cause any global change in climate; some volcanoes in Africa put out, every couple of years, more CO2 then all of mankind has done ever. Just think of this way, we aren't killing the planet just feeding the trees.
