Memo from the CEO
With an official sounding, corporate-like diction, the author writes a mock-serious piece with a serious message. The satire concludes that the workplace should be about relationship, and connection, not corruption. This plays off the recent bail-outs, which managers or higher placed businessmen on the food chain, gave themselves bonuses and laid many off. I agree with the author on this point. As the future lays itself out, technology will become ever so advanced, but relationship is still important, especially in the work place. As a high school student, we live each day preparing for the so called “real-working world,” we are soon to encounter. If corporate society becomes too involved in cutting out salaries, and laying off workers, following sorts of capitalism, then what are we looking forward to? Connection amongst people is vital. It’s what sparks human creativity and gets the job done. If our world’ problems could be solved by one person, then they would be. But, obviously, they can’t be, thus companies with many employees.
