Crime Control Methods - Assertion

Crime plagues the U.S. everyday, and it grows at a seemingly stable growth rate. We have law enforcement, security cameras, and security systems in home to protect the public, but crime still happens. What can the U.S. do to cut down the amount of crime everyday? I believe that we need to do everything possible to cut down the amount of crime in this nation. Even if the U.S. were to impose harsher punishments such as rather than a life in prison sentence for a first degree murder conviction, we give that criminal the death penalty. I do not think that the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment and i think we should use it more often. People who choose to commit crimes have chosen their path of life. I on the other hand have chosen to keep my criminal record clean and therefore think that the eye for and eye type of punishment is necessary to cut down on crime in the U.S. Having such a harsh punishment for many more crimes would make criminals think twice about committing them. They have the choice of living a normal life or a life filled with wrong doings and crime. This U.S. government should help them choose.
