I greatly agree with the positive spin that Lou Gehrig incorporates into his speech. Although he was diagnosed with an uncurable disease, he believes that he has had one of the greatest lives imaginable and has nothing to complain about. He does not ask for pity or sympathy because of his disease, but rather rejoices to have had the time of his life. He states that his is the "luckiest man on the face of the Earth". He says that he has met and played with some of the greatest baseball players to this day and for that he is thankful and a lucky man.
I believe that everyone should take this approach in life as Lou Gehrig does. You should not focus on the negative but what is good in your life. When a hard time comes, look at what you have and be thankful for that. Through out his whole speech, Lou Gehrig only mentions his disease three twice and neither are direct. He simply says he caught a "bad break". If everyone had the approach to life that Lou Gehrig does, this world would be a much happier place for everyone.

A: I agree with you catherine, I believe the message here is to look at situations as positive as you can. Lou Gehrig a man in his prime as a baseball player and as an individual is diagnosed with an uncurable disease. Instead of feeling sorry for him self he makes the best of his life. I think all people should live with this attitude.
