In Benjamin Carson's article, There Is No Job More Important Than Parenting, he discusses they importance of parenting. He describes his childhood and the way his mother raised him and his siblings. His television watching was restricted and spent his free time reading books and writing book reports his mother assigned. Although his mother was illiterate, she "graded" the reports and pushed Carson to do well in school. Carson's mother used her parenting to provide a better life for her children. Carson was able to grow up and become a doctor because of skills he learned by his mother's dedication to parenting.
I agree with the actions of Benjamin Carson's mother. I believe parenting is a very important job and affects a child for the remainder of their life. Many children who lack parenting may end up in minimum paying jobs or living in poverty because they were not pushed by their parents to do well. Although many of us struggle with our parents' demands, we will, most likely, thank them later when we see the outcome of our futures.
