Assertion Journal, Guns on Campus

This is a response to Pat and Sarah's posts on the gun issue.

I agree strongly on this matter with Sarah. I believe that there should not be guns on school grounds unless held by a law enforcement officer. There are too many things that could go wrong with allowing students and teachers to have firing arms in school. This is exactly how people end up getting extremely hurt or killed.

For example think of if some kid was extremely angry at another kid for bullying him or picking him. Instead of going to teachers and asking for help, he could choose to take the matter into his own hands and use his weapon. He may not of planned on using it, but if he loses self control than there could be a serious problem. Besides that example guns could be used for many other things, such as intimidation, and stealing peoples belongings.

I stand on the position that there should never be fire arms allowed on school grounds, unless used by law enforcement. This is a safety issue and is of great importance that guns should be kept off school grounds.
