Assertion: Unleashing the Power of Creativity and Intelligence--Sharon Titus

In his essay Unleashing The Power of Creativity and Intelligence, Bill Gates writes of his belief that creativity and intelligence can make the world a better place—either by expanding knowledge through computers, or by giving back and making progress on world issues. Gates writes of his own, personal take on his good fortune, and how he believes that through inventiveness and creativity, mankind will accomplish amazing achievements. His theory is valid—without the tools to accomplish what mankind has in recent years, technology, innovation and intelligence would not be nearly as advanced as it is—and creativity is required to bring about such tools.

Bill Gates is one of the richest men on earth. Despite his vast amounts of money, he seems to have a great grasp on the fact that his life is just as important as those around him, and that as a person put into a privileged spot in society, he has a task to maintain—attempting to make the lives of his fellow man as happy and content as possible. By broadening his perspective beyond himself, Gates reveals his intelligence regarding insights into human nature, and because of this, his point is even more so supported, by the author’s very situation.
