Assertion Journal 3
Dogs are important aspects in the lives of many people, including myself. They serve as our companion, protector, or anything you want them to be. In the article, I Learned Everything I Ever Needed to Know From My Dog, the author discusses his lifelong pal, Buster. When he first took his dog home, it is doubtful the author realized the life lessons Buster would teach him. Many of us are not able to understand the importance of something in our lives until it has been taken away from us. For ten years, the author walked, fed, brushed, and took care of his beloved beagle, teaching him responsibility. However, it wasn't the dependability skills that made a difference in the author's life. Buster's happy-go-lucky dog life shaped the way the author saw his own future. After working and supporting a family, the author realized that all he ever really needed was a carefree life of no worries and simple decisions. I believe our pets can teach us many things about life in the most unexpected ways.
