Assertion Journal 2

Stephanie Disney discusses the connection of family in her article, Seeing With the Heart. She believes family is defined by love and the heart, not by blood or race. Disney was taught this lesson by her daughter, whom she adopted and shares no similar looks. When people ask what race her daughter is, she sometimes explains that her race is unknown and other times describes that the race does not matter because family is connected by heart. I agree with Disney's view. I too believe that race or blood does not matter when discussing the love of a family. I consider some of my close friends to be my family, though we share no blood relation. One's view on this subject highly depends on the way their family was raised and the views shown to them, however, I support Disney's idea that family is measured by heart, not by race.
