"Indian Removal"
Does anyone else just despise Andrew Jackson now? I mean the things the white settlers and him did to the Native Americans are unbelievable. Especially in chapter 7. The United States exploited and took advantage of the Indians, and their land. Especially when it comes to treaties on land occupation. I know the U.S. needed to expand but at what cost? They were decietful in their negotians and broke EVERY single deal (treaty) that they made. I agree with Zinn as he points out that you dont see the terrible things that happened to the indians in any of our textbooks, in depth. I believe that the "Indian Removal" part of American History is definently overlooked.

I absolutely agree with you on that last part. A lot of the gruesome details of our history have been omitted for image's sake. After having read this book I'm beginning to think that the school system is just as bad as Disney, spinning tales of noble causes and happy endings when underneath you find that some feet were cut to make the slipper fit. Also as far as hating Jackson goes I can't say that I do, but I have grown to dislike him quite a bit along with other historical figures that I used to respect.
